Missions are great

Hello Ya'll. So this week was literally the best week ever. I say that because we just barley had the coolest miracle happen. And of course when everything is hard and not the easiest on the mission and a miracle happens, you forget everything that was bad and you are just the happiest person in the world haha. This week was hard sometimes but also had some great moments to it. Missionary work is just like a long run or bike ride. There are moments when you hit down hills and it is just the best feeling ever. And then there are times when you have to climb and work and just feel like your legs are going to fall off. But it the end, the run or bike ride pays off and we feel our "runners high". Anyway.... I love it because you never know really what's coming at you. Sometimes you feel like you cant go anymore, and then suddenly Heavenly Father decides to send someone in our path. I also know that this work isn't just luck or an accident. Rather, the Lord lets his work go forward according to the faith of man. We have to trust the Lord and follow him to understand his will and timing.

A small overview of things that happened this week.... We had a conference with President Fingerle and it was amazing. We got to know more about him and his family. They are absolutely amazing people and I couldn't be more grateful to have them as my mission parents. haha. They really have a beautiful family and an amazing story to their life. We learned so much from them in the conference and just how ready this work is to blow up here in Germany. The coolest thing that he showed us though can be done everywhere in the world to help the Lord hasten his work. He talked a lot about invitations. And I know that it is a weakness from EVERY member to invite others that aren't of the gospel to come to Christ. Yeah it can be hard, but think of all the things that are possible for an invitation. FHE, church activities, baby blessings, baptisms and confirmations, firesides, homecomings and farewells for missionaries, funerals, conferences, and the list just keeps going on and on. It really doesn't matter if any of those activities are from our own families or not. They are special opportunities for others and ourselves to fill the spirit of the Lord. And also to support others. Exactly like the Lord said, if we aren't one, we aren't his.   I know sometimes we also don't really know how to invite.. But just from one post on Facebook, think about how many friends of yours and friends of friends of yours will be able to see that. And that's just one idea to invite. And if EVERY member could do that, what kind of a change could that make? We talked a lot in the conference about CHANGING. not your life, but 1 percent of your life. 1 thing that you can do in your life better to help others to come unto Christ. Maybe 1 percent doesn't seem like a lot.. But its enough to change your life completely and even if everyone would also just give one percent and just keep doing their best to master weaknesses, the work of the Lord could go forward like we have never seen before. Elder Bednar said "if we always do what we have always done, we will always keep getting the results of what we have always done". And a scripture from Alma 37:6-7 just puts the icing on the cake :) I really love the gospel. Because just from helping ourselves, makes it possible to help others that we would have never imagined helping before. There is also a promise that when we teach the gospel.. whether that's to family, friends or whoever... We will become more in tune with the enticing's of the Holy Spirit AND a better understanding and love for the gospel.

The last thing is just an amazing miracle that happened to us this week. We have been wanting to find more. We have been short on time quite a few times in the last few weeks and haven't had a lot of time for it. But when we give our best to be able to find people and do our part as tools in his hands, he will make it possible for us. And its a perfect example with what happened on Sunday. Sunday was decent. I had a lot of stress though and I just didn't feel the best. It was one of those days when you are running up a steep mountain. I just didn't feel the best about myself and things I have been doing. What was even worse on the day is we had things come up that made it not possible to go finding. And after that I really was just so confused. I planed with the spirit that we would find 2 people and that we could have about 2 hours to go find. And it was wiped out.  On top of that, we had our missionary counsel meeting changed an hour earlier because our ward mission leader needed to do it sooner. I was just bugged and down and felt kind of helpless especially with all the responsibility in being a missionary with members, friends of the church, and just making sure you are always doing what you are supposed to be doing because its not my time, but the Lords. Anyway... I just went with it because I didn't just want to complain. After our mission meeting we were on our way home and the night before, we had planned to find a family and get two new friends of the church to teach. And as we were on our way home Sunday, we were standing at a bus stop when a teenage girl started talking to us. She asked if we were Mormon missionaries haha. She was with her mom and she was an exchange student in Utah and said she went to church almost every week with the family she stayed with, and she wanted her family to be taught haha. So in this moment I was thinking... Okay... We actually almost missed a bus to make it to this bus station and now we are standing here at a time where normally we would be in a meeting. And it showed me that Heavenly Father is always watching out for us. He will do everything to make it possible that his children are taught when they are ready for it.
Also I just felt so much love and gratefulness that I could see what kind of impression the gospel leaves on those who learn and see for themselves what it brings. Also that this work only is possible with the spirit. I don't know why I had the feeling we would only teach 1 lesson and find 2 new people, but I did. And I knew that the Lord knew the night before that it would happen as we were setting these goals for the next day.

Thanks for being the amazing people that you all are. I love you all and wish you a great week this week. I am doing great in case you are wondering. I just wanted to show you a little how heavenly father can work with us when we allow him to.

Love, Elder Williams
